A house extension is a big job, and the back of the house is often opened up while it happens. Ayton-Smith Construction is run by Bradley Ayton-Smith, who brings more than 15 years of building experience to every extension we build in and around Camberley.
We dig the footings, put in the steel, build the walls and roof, and bring in the trades that finish the room. You’ll know what’s happening at each stage, and our customers often mention how tidy we keep the site.

Our 40m² extension at the back of the house is finished and we love the new space. From our first meeting with Brad right through to the last day on site, the team were excellent: great workmanship, a tidy site so we could keep living at home, and they listened, offered ideas and took our changes in their stride.

What types of house extension do you build in Camberley?
Most are single-storey rear extensions that open the back of the house into a kitchen, dining or family room. We also build larger single-storey extensions, two-storey extensions, porches and dormer enlargements, and we convert garages and lofts.
What materials do you use for an extension?
That depends on your house and the finish you want. Our recent extensions have blockwork walls finished in brick or render, steel beams where walls are opened up and timber roof structures, with timber posts, timber cladding, bi-fold or sliding doors and roof lights on different jobs. We talk through the options when we visit.
Can we stay in our home while the extension is built?
Often, yes. One recent Checkatrade reviewer in Fleet stayed at home throughout a 40m² rear extension, helped by the team keeping the site tidy. Whether it suits your project depends on the work involved, so ask Bradley when he visits.
Do you carry out the steelwork and structural work?
Yes. We install steel beams (RSJs) and lintels, open up load-bearing walls on temporary props, and carry out the groundworks and brickwork for the extensions we build.
How do payments work?
Payments are agreed for each project and written into your quotation, which itemises the costs and sets out the payment stages, so you know what’s due and when.
How will I know how the build is going?
We keep in touch throughout the work with regular updates, and Bradley and the team are on hand to answer questions as the build goes on.
Which areas do you cover?
We’re based in Camberley and work across Surrey and Hampshire, including Frimley, Bagshot, Lightwater, Farnborough, Fleet, Farnham and Woking, and over the Berkshire border in Sandhurst and Crowthorne.
